My second post, ever?

Well, technically, no – considering that I have already launched my academically inclined student site with some posts in tow. It is interesting to note though that I have never made a personally inclined post.
Not too sure why I settled on such a strange way to open, but there you go. I think it is to maybe navigate this strange feeling of venturing forth into the realms of corporate capitalism with this humble website, and what that may entail?
Pretty ironic coming from a person who has coached professionals for as long as I have, but I stand by my being perturbed and unnerved by the entire operation.
If anything, I just wanted to claim a small bit of digital real estate to not just create interesting opportunities for us, but to also perhaps help expand on the narrative of English study. With the industry booming, I still feel that it seems to fall under the same bracket of boredom and billing.
Having the pleasure of meeting learners from so many countries, I have realized a simple thing that to actually learn a language, specifically a Lingua Franca like how English has become, it is essential to tap into the culture of it, along with the culture of the learner.
The only way for it to be a success is to have it infused into one’s life in a beautiful, organic, and dare I say, hedonistic way.
English itself, in all its form, is a very misunderstood language and who can blame people? It is a language forced down your throat, sterile academically, unreachable culturally, and bare to the naked eye.
I love breaking the language apart and along learners to take a peek at what they might have been missing.
Sooo, hence the site. Haha. Being Singaporean is a fascinating nexus as well, as I feel that I am still a learner of this language, even though it is the only one I know. I do not take it for granted, in the sense that I study it constantly and observe how it affects the lives of others. Of yours.
